The Friends of the Washington-Centerville Public Library (WCPL) will hold a spring book sale, April 27 - 29, at the Centerville Library, 111 West Spring Valley Road. Book sales are the major fundraisers of the Friends of WCPL. Over its 10-year history the group has donated nearly $250,000 to the Library. These donations help to fund special projects like Family Film Nights, a canine reading mentorship, equipment for the new Creativity Commons makerspace, summer reading club incentives, and Maker Kits.
Members of the Friends of WCPL can shop early on Thursday, April 27, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Hundreds of books will be priced at $1 each. Friends of WCPL membership starts at $5 and can be purchased at the door to gain admittance to shop on Thursday. The sale is open to the general public Friday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or while supplies last.

The sale will feature a "treasure chest" of thousands of books and AV materials in pristine condition with 99.9% donated by library patrons. Book sales are the major fundraisers of the Friends of WCPL. Over its 10-year history the group has donated nearly $250,000 to the Library. The Friends of Washington-Centerville Public Library (WCPL) have continued their support of the Library with a grant of $21,890 for programming and equipment. Since their inception, the Friends have granted nearly $250,000 to the Library to support projects including Playaway launchpads, various program series, summer reading club incentives, Maker Kits and a scanning station.
"We appreciate the continual support of the Friends - they have helped expand a multitude of programming opportunities at the Library for the community over the past decade," said Director Liz Fultz.
The first Friends Book Sale of 2022 will be held April 21-23 at the Centerville branch, 111 W. Spring Valley Rd., Centerville. This event occurs three times a year and is the largest fundraiser for the Friends.

Vice President: The duties of the vice president shall be to perform the duties of the president in the president's absence or inability to act and to perform other duties as may be assigned by the president or Friends board, and to serve as chairperson of one (1) standing committee.
Treasurer: The duties of the treasurer are to prepare and present for the Friends board?Ts approval an annual budget, perform and record all financial transactions of the Friends, report on the financial condition of the Friends to the board at least quarterly, present an audited report at the annual meeting and serve as custodian of Friends assets.
Member-at-large: The duties of the member at-large shall be those as assigned to the member from time to time by the president and/or the Friends board.
Volunteer Committee Chair: The duties of the volunteer committee are to provide, mentor, manage, and organize volunteers to support Friends events, including book sales, and if requested, Washington-Centerville Public Library events.
