Interlibrary Loan

Public libraries across Ohio collaborate on the SearchOhio lending system to share resources. In 2025, the software vendor that provides the SearchOhio lending platform decided to upgrade us to a new system. As part of this upgrade, the vendor required that SearchOhio be taken offline for a multi-week downtime to facilitate the transition to this new platform. The vendor promised that the new system would be ready for launch in October of 2025, so the SearchOhio downtime was scheduled to meet that launch date. Unfortunately, the vendor had software functionality issues that were not known or disclosed to SearchOhio libraries until just before the scheduled launch date, requiring the statewide launch to be cancelled on short notice. Since then, Washington-Centerville Public Library has been working with libraries across the state and the software vendor to push for the new SearchOhio system to be ready as soon as possible.

The software vendor has indicated that the new SearchOhio system will be ready for final testing in February. We are hopeful that the system will prove ready to resume full service in March. We will let you all know as soon as we have a specific launch date.

We share in your frustration with this much longer than expected SearchOhio downtime and appreciate your patience and support. As always, we will continue to work hard to provide the best possible service to all our patrons.

• Renewable: All items will renew automatically up to three (3) times provided there isn't a request for the item at the lending library.
• Overdue fines: 50¢/day
• $25 for lost or damaged items more than thirty (30) days overdue or damaged beyond repair.
• Returns: Inside or outside book drops at either the Centerville Library or Woodbourne Library.

• Loan period: 1 week for all media (audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs)
• Renewable: Books will renew automatically up to six (6) times and all media will renew automatically up to three (3) times provided there isn't a request for it at the lending library.
• Overdue fines: 50¢/day
• $125 for lost or damaged items more than 30 days overdue or damaged beyond repair.
• $50 for items returned after having been billed ($15 for overdue fines plus a $35 processing fee).
• Returns: Inside or outside book drops at either the Centerville Library or Woodbourne Library.

• Do you need a digital or physical copy of an article, sheet music, chapters or selected pages in a book? Click the ILLiad button, complete the form and our librarians will request your item from Kent State University. If you need a complete book and other items, use the SearchOhio and OhioLINK buttons above.
• Free digital copies will be sent to requestor at no charge.
• Fees apply for printing physical copies.

*Patrons owing $10 or more in fines, under disciplinary action, with expired teacher cards, expired homebound cards or temporary library cards are not eligible to use this service.
