Live the Good Life

Calling all teens in grades 7-10 (10th graders accepted for this year only) who live or attend school in Montgomery County! Enter your essay describing your strategies for leading a good life through your teen years, predicting roadblocks along the way. The contest opens for online entries September 15. Enter by October 13 and you could win $3,000 in the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Contest. This contest is funded by the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Endowment.

Vote for Your Favorite Photo!

Cast your vote for the best photo in the annual Beyond Point & Shoot Photo Contest. All entries are judged by professional photographers, but the public gets to weigh in to determine the Peopleís Choice winner. Voting takes place Sept 10-16 so donít delay! Winning photos will be displayed in the Centerville Police Department Gallery beginning October 27.

Vote for the Big Read

The Big Read invites you to vote between September 22 and October 16 for the book that the whole Miami Valley will read and have opportunities to discuss in Spring 2015. This initiative, which began in 2005, is a collaborative effort between libraries, universities, bookstores and other reading groups around the area.

Paws in the Park

Bring your dog to the Dog Park at Oak Grove Park, 1790 E. Social Row Rd. on September 19 from 5:30-7:30 PM for Paws in the Park! This fun event featuring demonstrations, costume contest, dog/owner look alike, vendor booths and more. A joint program with the Centerville-Washington Park District.

Celebrate Banned Books Week

Join WCPL librarians and representatives from Epic Loot Games & Comics as they talk about Comics Unmasked: The History of Comic Censorship on September 27 from 11:30 AM Ė 12:30 PM at Centerville Library. Bring a sack lunch and hear interesting comics info, participate in trivia and win prizes! Registration is not required.

New Date for New Book Club for Kids & Parents!

Based on patron feedback, the date and time for our newest book club for kids in 1st and 2nd grades with their parents has been changed. The club will now meet the last Thursday of each month from 6-7 PM. The first meeting will be September 25 at 6 PM at Centerville Library. Donít miss this initial meeting when participants will select a name for the new club.

Sunday Hours Are Back!

Both Centerville Library and Woodbourne Library are now open on Sundays from 1-5 PM. Stop in to work on school or business research projects, or simply to browse our collection!
