You know we provide free access to books, but you may not be aware of the digital resources that students can access through the Library. Check out ABCmouse, Adventure Academy, AtoZ the USA (for state reports), Gale eBooks (for instant access to reference books), LearningExpress (for access to practice exams like PSAT, ACT, SAT, etc.), Oxford Research Encyclopedias, and many more.
We also have quiet study spaces and access to laptops. Additionally, our librarians act as research guides, teaching information literacy skills and helping students navigate all of our academic sources. Book a librarian and find out all we can offer in a one-on-one appointment, focused on your student.
If you’ve been to the Centerville Library lately, you’ve seen that the main entrance is closed due to construction work. You'll need to use our alternative entrance, which is to the left of the main entrance.
Please note that this temporary entrance is not accessible for patrons who need assistance. If you need help accessing the library, please call our curbside service number, and a staff member will be dispatched to assist you promptly.

Adventure Academy is a new online learning program for kids 8-13. It’s a multiplayer online game that combines educational content with a virtual world where kids can explore, interact with other players, and complete quests (while learning). It’s a way to meet kids in their world, through a video game experience. It is a subscription-based service, provided to you by Washington-Centerville Public Library. The platform provides a safe and secure learning environment, with parental controls for chat and in-game interactions.
The “game” focuses on building critical knowledge and skills in core academic subjects, like language arts, math, science, and social studies.
Our membership with Oxford Academic offers several online resources, and Very Short Introductions is a favorite for its engaging and informative content. This resource offers concise and original introductions to a wide range of subjects. Expert authors combine fact, analysis, and enthusiasm to make even challenging topics readable to develop your core knowledge.
Whether your student just needs some quick information, to learn information in a different way, or you are curious about something, check out this great resource, which also offers a podcast.
