1. Beyond Point & Shoot

Time: 1 – 2:30 PM
Location: Centerville Library
Presenter: Centerville Arts Commissioner & photographer Kera Estep
Registration IS required! Limit 80 people.
Learn to use Photoshop tools to enhance and alter your pictures.
Photo Contest (8/1/11 - 9/11/11)
Eligibility:
- No residency restrictions.
- Employees of the City of Centerville, Centerville Arts Commission, Washington-Centerville Public Library, and judges are not eligible to enter.
- Two age groups:
- Youth - 17 and younger
- Adult - 18 and older
- Competition categories:
- People
- Place
- Local (Photo taken in Centerville or Washington Township, Ohio)
- Black & White
- Limits: One entry per category and no more than two entries total per person.
- Photo must be taken by submitter.
- If under 18, you must obtain permission to enter the contest.
- All photos must be in JPG format, although photographs may have been shot on film, slide, or with a digital camera.
- Hard copy photos will not be accepted and will not be returned.
- Entries must be submitted online using the official online entry form (link visible below when contest is live).
- Entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on September 11, 2011.
- Washington-Centerville Public Library and the City of Centerville reserve the non-exclusive right to use the photographs at their discretion.
- The photographer is responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions if his/her photograph includes an identifiable individual.
- No entry fee.
- Entries will not be returned.
- Attend the Photo Workshops on August 27, 2011
- Learn about photography by checking out these Library materials.
- View the 2010 and 2011 winning photos.
- The public will have an opportunity to vote online for one People's Choice Award.
- Vote for your favorite photo
- One vote per person
- Link to vote will be visible below when voting is live.
- Three local judges: Photographers Jerry Huffman and Gary Kunze, and Centerville Arts Commissioner and photographer Kera Estep.
- The judges will choose one first place and one second place winner per category and age group.
- Judging criteria:
- Use of Lighting
- Use of Color or Contrast
- Creativity
- Perspective/Framing
- All decisions of our judges are final.
- Winners will be notified via e-mail by September 23.
Awards Ceremony (10/16/11)
- Winning photographs will be unveiled at the Centerville Art Gallery located in the Centerville Police Headquarters, 155 W. Spring Valley Road, Centerville.
- Sunday, October 16, 2:30 - 3:30 PM
- Awards presented at 3 PM
- Everyone is welcome to attend!
Exhibition (10/16/11 - 11/30/11)
- Centerville Art Gallery located in the Centerville Police Headquarters, 155 W. Spring Valley Road, Centerville.
- Opens Sunday, October 16, 2:30 PM
- Winning photographs on display for 6 weeks!
- Free and open to the public.
- Gallery staffed 24-hours per day. Exhibit may be viewed anytime, day or night.
- Winners receive their framed/matted photos after the exhibit is closed. Exhibit photos must be picked up by owner no later than Thursday, December 15, at the Centerville Municipal Building located at 100 West Spring Valley Road.
- The City of Centerville and Washington-Centerville Library are not responsible for damage that may occur during the exhibition.
