Course Offerings

Web Skills for Beginners
A must for the beginner! This program is designed to give the computer novice a basic understanding of the essential mouse and keyboarding skills needed to navigate the Internet. If you've never used a computer before, take this class before "Internet for Beginners". (For Adults)

Internet for Beginners (1-day & 2-day courses available)
Get started on the Internet as experienced librarians lead you on a tour of the World Wide Web. Students are taught the Internet basics in a hands-on learning environment. Topics include Internet vocabulary, browser navigation, and basic searching. (For Adults)

E-mail for Beginners
Start communicating electronically with friends and relatives! Learn the basics of e-mailing, set up a Yahoo! Mail account, and send and receive your first e-mail messages. Basic computer/Internet skills required. (For Adults)

Advanced E-mail
This course expands on the knowledge learned in our "E-mail for Beginners" class. Includes such topics as opening and sending attachments, creating an address book, and using folders to organize e-mails. (For Adults)

Searching the Web
Learn to locate specific information on the Internet, using directories, search engines, and meta-searches. Includes search strategy tips for novice searchers. (For Adults)

Advanced Web Searching
Topics covered in this hands-on class include advanced search engine features, refining and focusing searches, and the Invisible Web. Basic searching skills required - preferably completion of our "Searching the Web" class. (For Adults)

eCatalog & Library Links
Learn to use our online library catalog, including placing holds on library materials, renewing items, and other major catalog functions. Also, learn how to access over 30 free Research Databases from the Library's Web site. (For Adults)

eBay Basics: Buying
An experienced Librarian and Education Specialist trained by eBay takes you through the entire process - setting up an account, researching prices, placing bids, and completing the sale. (For Adults)

eBay Basics: Selling (Full-day and 2-day courses available)
Once you know the basics of buying on eBay, learn all about selling in this workshop. Learn the procedure for listing items for sale and get practical tips from an eBay veteran on getting the greatest profit from your listings. (For Adults)

eBay Beyond the Basics
Techniques for the serious seller! Learn to create listings the professional way using time-saving tips. Course covers the eBay store, basic business principles, finding merchandise to sell, & advance listing management tools. (For Adults)

Microsoft Office Basics
Learn some basic skills to use with all Microsoft Office products including how to open, save, and print a document. Also provided will be other tools and Web sites to enhance your use of Microsoft Office.

Genealogy Workshop (2-day course)
Begin to search the Ancestry Library Edition database! On Day 1, you will learn techniques, tips and tricks, and find helpful documents in your genealogical search. Then, on Day 2, use your new knowledge to find your ancestors and practice new techniques hands-on. Get all the information Ancestry has to offer!

Genealogy Interest Group
Meet informally to discuss genealogy, use the library’s genealogy databases (Ancestry and Heritage Quest), and learn from each other. Reference librarians will be available to answer questions.
